A day in the life of... a dental student!

It sure has been a while, hasn’t it? I finally feel like I have the time to sit down and write a quality blog post. I apologize to the multitudes waiting with bated breath for this post.

I was fortunate enough to pass Part 1 of the National Board Dental Examinations in July. It is a huge relief to have that hurdle successfully behind me so that I can focus on my clinical skills. There is definitely room for improvement in all aspects!

After Boards ended, my classmates and I have been transitioning from the lecture halls into the simulation clinic where we are learning clinical procedures and honing in on our “inner dental skills.” It is amazingly motivating to think that in 7 short months I will be treating my first (live) patient! Here are a few pictures of things I’ve been working on since my last post.

 My first gold crown

Next time Dr. Evans makes you a temporary, remember this picture. I made 5 temporary crowns before I finally got one to work properly. There is serious skill involved when he successfully makes one of these bad boys on the first attempt. Practice makes perfect, right?

This is the final result when I finally got the temporary to work. Not bad, huh?

Thanks for reading! As always, if you have comments, concerns, complaints, etc. please send them my way: chrisevans9@me.com. If you are interested in seeing more about the life of a dental student, check out Instagram
